When you head to a winter resort, there is only one thing better than the skiing (or at least equal to it). This is - of course - the apres ski! The good news is if you choose to stay in La Tania you can look forward to frequenting many of the venues in town. You won't have to worry about how to get there, as everything is reassuringly compact here. There is no traffic in the village and it is just a short distance from the restaurants and bars back to the ski chalets La Tania is known for.



Pour in enough batter to cover the bottom of the skillet. The beef meat is prepared in a red wine, not surprisingly a red wine from Burgundy. Onions, bacon, carrots and mushrooms offer flavor to the recipe. But garlic, thyme and beef stock are vital to make a tasty boeuf bourguignon.

Once you've slow cooker beef bourguignon got all your shopping done it's time to roll back the sleeves and get to work. While some people like to do things as they go, I like to prepare everything ahead of time to make it easier for myself later on in the process. That's why we start with preparation.

4 slices bacon; 1 1/2 lbs. top round beef or stew meat, cut into 1" cubes; 1 can golden mushroom soup; 1/4 cup beef for stew wine; 2 Tbsp. chopped parsley; pinch of black pepper; 12 small whole white onions; 2 cups sliced mushrooms. In large saucepan or electric skillet, cook bacon until crisp. Remove and crumble. Brown beef in bacon drippings. Pour off fat; add soup, wine, parsley and pepper. Cover, cook over low heat 1 1/2 hours. Add onions and mushrooms. Cover and cook 1 hour more until beef is tender. Serve over wide noodles. Garnish with bacon and parsley.
